Both language and religion have important roles in culture. A culture represents someone’s ideas, values, and beliefs. I think someone’s religion is the most important aspect of their cultures. Language is something that can be learned while religion is something that people truly belief. Your religion often times guides you through life, inspires you, and shapes who you are as a person. Sharing religious beliefs connects you with people on a different level. It allows you to share similar beliefs on a spiritual level. Religion influences greatly who we are as people. It influences the way we dress, eat, and our social practices. Certain religions require you to dress a certain way, restricts you from eating certain foods, and influences your daily activity. Some are mores strict than others when it comes to daily practices. Personally, I am Italian we follow the catholic faith. Religion is something that is taken very seriously, and you are expected to be baptized, receive communion and confirmation, and be married in a church. Family in the Italian culture is something that is very important and going to church and attending mass is something done as a family. That is more important than being able to speak the language. Being able to speak a language is a part of life and helps you communicate it with others, but that doesn’t define who you are as a person. As stated, both religion and language are very important to culture. Culture makes us the person we are today.
